Sometimes remembering your password(s) can be a real problem if you did not write them down, as you should always do as a part of basic password management. However, many platforms now make us change our passwords to prevent possible account breaches by hackers, which could also lead to forgetting what you’ve changed it to. Below are some helpful tips that can get you back into your account(s) without needing to schedule a service call or visit to get you logged in.

Forgot Website/Email Password

• On the login screen of the site that you are trying to gain access, click the “forgot password” option within or below the login window area of the login page’s content
  • Usually they will ask you what email address or phone number is used for logging in
  • They will either send you a confirmation email with a link or a text message with a code to your cell phone or call your land line with a code for verification
    • NOTE: Some code verifications might have a time limit for how quick to respond with the verification code before it times out and you will have to resend the code again
  • Create your new password according to their password rules (length and characters) and write it down somewhere for safe keeping
• If you have tried the above methods to reset your password and are still unable to login, you might need to call the support number of the site you are trying to login to and speak to their support team to get your password reset
• If the suggestions above did not resolve the issue, we can attempt to assist you by phone or onsite to resolve this matter

Forgot Windows Password

• Managing your local user account password
  • If you created a password reset disk, use that media to reset your windows password
  • If you did not create a password reset disk, you can schedule onsite or depot service to have us use password reset utility that can blank your password and allow you to gain access to your computer’s windows profile and create a new password, if desired
    • NOTE: Not all instances of the password reset utility work on every computer due to the secure boot function on mostly all motherboard BIOS settings. However, we do our best to remove the secure boot option to gain access to the utility for resetting the password. If the attempt fails, you will only be charged for a minimum diagnosis fee. Further, you will likely need to reinstall a fresh copy of windows on your hard drive with a data backup and restore process, if desired. If you choose to pay for our windows installation services, your initial fee paid for the password reset service will be used as a credit towards the windows installation service fee.

  • If your computer is linked to your Microsoft account, your password or pin number is controlled only by your Microsoft account password management.
    • You should have a different computer or cell phone to login to your Microsoft account and be able to change your password or pin number so that you can gain access to your existing user profile on your computer.
    • The process will require you to receive the verification code on your phone or other email address that is associated with your account reset options.

  • Local account will only allow you to use a password to be entered at the login screen
  • Local account will also give you a “password hint” or “reset password” option on the login screen
  • Microsoft account gives you an option to use a password or pin number to login
  • Microsoft account also gives you a “forgot password” option on the login screen

Forgot Application Password

• Call the application provider’s technical support number for assistance with this where they can provide you with work arounds or password reset steps to take

NOTE: Resetting a password can usually take up to 15 minutes to complete. This service is subject to a 30-minute minimum to schedule the onsite appointment or a 15-minute minimum to drop off. Additional time beyond the minimums will be billed in 15 minute increments to continue the service event, if necessary. If parts are needed to resolve the issue, it will be quoted and approved for parts needed including taxes and handling fees associated with acquiring the parts.
