Browser errors can be a result of many different things. Depending on the error you are getting, we have some basic tips that can help you understand what to do for resolving the issue; or that it’s a web developer/site issue.
NOTE: Before reviewing the list below to troubleshoot this type of issue, always try closing all programs and rebooting your computer and internet router(s) to ensure you don’t have an internal network or ISP connectivity problem existing.
Before requesting support for this type of issue, please review the following items below that might match the error you’re seeing:
- Your connection is not private or Your connection is not fully secure
- If the website is “not showing a security lock icon” next to the URL, the site is currently not secure. But you can still enter it by clicking the option to view the page anyway
- The website host needs to update their security certificate or make the website/page you are trying to view secure to prevent viewers receiving this message
- Check your computer clock settings to make sure your date/year/time zone are correct
- Try rebooting your computer and your router(s) to reset network initializations within your environment
- If the website is “not showing a security lock icon” next to the URL, the site is currently not secure. But you can still enter it by clicking the option to view the page anyway
- 404 Error or 404 – Page not found
- The page you are trying to view is not available
- The website you are trying to access is down
- Retry the URL from the address bar again by selecting Reload or Refresh, the F5 key, or the Ctrl+R keyboard shortcut
- Clear your browser cache to eliminate any old versions of the page you are trying to access
- Try using a different browser to see if the same error occurs; if not then try doing a fresh installation of the browser experiencing the problem
- Check your internet connection to ensure you are still connected
- 503 Error – Service unavailable
- Retry the URL from the address bar again by selecting Reload or Refresh, the F5 key, or the Ctrl+R keyboard shortcut
- 504 Error – Gateway timeout
- Usually associated with a website that is slow to load and the page times out waiting for a response from the web server
- Retry the URL from the address bar again by selecting Reload or Refresh, the F5 key, or the Ctrl+R keyboard shortcut
- If the page still fails to load after a few tries, wait about 15-30 minutes and try again
- There are many times a site might be under maintenance; or the website host provider is experiencing web server problems and usually can take up to 30 minutes for a rebooting process to be completed
- An error has occurred in the script on this page
- This is a problem with the webpage having a java script or program script that is not working properly
- Make sure your browser version is up to date to eliminate a possible java handler version being outdated within your browser’s configuration; otherwise it is mainly a website issue that you cannot fix in your computer’s configuration
NOTE: This type of problem is usually resolved within 15 minutes whether performed remotely or onsite at your location. However, if there is another issue causing this problem that needs to be troubleshot, the time could increase well beyond our control before a final solution has been reached. Therefore, this service is subject to a 15-minute minimum remotely and 30-minute minimum onsite payment in advance to schedule the appointment. Additional time beyond the minimums will be billed in 15 minute increments to continue the service event.
